1) Your opening hours are?
We are open from 7:45 a.m. to 17:00 p.m. The schools are closed for summer and Christmas holidays and special holidays. A Yearly School Calendar can be requested from the office.

2) How big is the school?
The school in Lauttasaari can hold 18 children.
The school in Espoo has a capacity of 30 children, divided into two groups - 3- 4 year olds and 5-6 year olds.

3) Do you have an approved Kindergarten Curriculum?
The 6 year olds are given a 4-hr. kindergarten curriculum or esikoulu as per state requirement.

4) What is your educational philosophy?
The Neo-Humanist system is dedicated to the holistic growth and development of children.It encourages the child to feel love and respect for all ,regardless of culture, race religion and nationality and to extend this love to animals, plants and the environment.

The curriculum aims to foster the individual development of all aspects of the child‚s being: the physical body and senses, emotions, intellect and creativity. There are over 850 nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools around the world implementing this educational philosophy on non-profit basis.

5) What do you teach? What do the children do regularly?
The daily activities revolve around Circle Time, individual and group
indoor play and outdoor experiences and games. The daily schedule is at the Parent's Bulletin Board. The week activities include free play, baking, self-care, art, crafts, story-telling, drama, songs, music, rhymes, movements, relaxation and physical exercises, games, language, math, science, and Montessori sensory-motor and practical life exercises. A yearly themes outline is given at the outset of the year. English learning books are used in the kindergarten.

6) What language do you use?
Parents choose our school to introduce their child to the English language, and for our friendly multicultural setting and family atmosphere. Children learn languages quickly. The child does not have to know English at the start. We speak mostly English all through the day, and will explain in Finnish to the Finnish speaking child when needed.

7) How many teachers do you have?
At present our kindergartens have 2 pre-school teachers and 2 nursery nurses each.

8) What do the children eat?
We prepare our own lacto-vegetarian diet for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. The children are encouraged to taste and take fruits and vegetables for good, basic nutritional habits.

9) What can parents do?
We invite family members to volunteer to enrich activities. We request
parents to help us in field trips, school work, school events. Your help in enhances the school. You can also visit us anytime.

A Parents' Meeting is held twice a year to facilitate communication and
cooperation between parents and teachers .Individual planning for each child is done in coordination with the parents.

10) How do I enroll my child?
First we invite all interested to visit the school with the child and
observe our activities. We have a Waiting List fee of 25 euros for
applications made at least six months or more in advance.

The registration fee of 25 euros is charged at enrolment time. A two-day visiting period is offered so the child can become familiar with the new environment and new friends. Parents will themselves arrange the KELA parent subsidy and Espoon Kaupunki support (for the 'esiopetus' program).

11) What are the fees?

12) What do I need to bring to school?

Daily:
-Change of cloths such as extra underwear, leggings, pants, shirts, socks.
-House shoes, backpack
-Raingear, coat, rubber pants, rubber boots

Warm Clothes:
-Sweater, headgear, woolen socks, mittens, and scarves, winter boots,backpack.

In the Spring and Autumn:

-Raincoats, rubber pants and boots, rubber gloves, tennis shoes, light
jackets, hats or bonnets.

Please label everything. (Clothes, gloves, shoes, toys) Confusion and
irritation is avoided when this is done.

13) Can my child bring his toys?
Friday is our Toy Day. Children can bring one of their own toys to play with during free play.

Please do not bring toy guns or armed scary toys.

14) I need to inform that the child can not come today?
Yes, please give a short call to inform the teacher the reason why the child can not come before 10:00 a.m.

16) My child is not feeling well?
If the child is feeling sick, he is better at home, where he will get the
loving attention and medical treatment he needs

17) We love the school but we have to move?
A Withdrawal Notice will have to be filled up and submitted two months
before leaving. In case that he/she have to go before finishing the two
months, full payment will be charged for those two months as per the
Contract.Lack of attendance does not constitute withdrawal. Also, lack of attendance does not mean discounted charges, because the place of the child is kept for her/him.

18) What are the summer fees?
We charge full-day and full month fees during the July summer holidays. Children graduating or leaving for another school in June will have to pay the same.

19) What are the Kindergarten / Esikoulu charges?
The Esikoulu student subsidy have a few details that are different. Espoon Kaupunki pays for the Esikoulu only from August to May. They do not pay for June and July. The parents will have to make another arrangement with KELA for those two months.

KELA and Esikoulu papers for Espoon Kaupunki will have to be submitted by May for the next school term in the fall.
